Access to the playground is easiest from the lower level of the hospital. Exit the hospital through the doors marked with the star, directly to the left of the main elevators.
Schooling is provided for in-patients and out-patients based on individual needs.
Good Earth Cafe (1) is open from 6:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday; 8:00am to 4:00pm on weekends.
Tim Hortons (3) is located in the cafeteria.
The Cafeteria is open from 6:30 am to 9:00pm Monday to Friday and from 7:30 am to 8:00pm on weekends.
The Mountainview Café is open from 6:00am to 7:00pm.
Located across from Good Earth Cafe.
A supervised play area for patients and siblings of patients. They are designed for short-term visits, a maximum of 1.5 hours. They are open from 8:30am to 4:0pm Monday to Thursday; 8:30am to 3:00pm on Friday; and closed on the weekends.

This is where most surgical patients will be brought after recovery, unless they are admitted directly to unit 3.
This is where all pre-op and follow-up appointments will be.
It is located on the 2nd floor at the top of the spiral stairs. The space is open 24/7 with staff available to assist you during the day, Monday to Friday. This is a place you can go to find more information, support, and resources for your child and family.
The family centre is located on the 2nd floor. The lounge area, kitchen, and games are available for inpatient and outpatient families' use. Inpatient families can also access laundry services. There are 5 sleeping rooms available for out-of-town parents. For more information about these spaces, contact the Family and Community Resource Centre at

The sacred space is located on the 2nd floor. It is a quiet space that can be used for meditation, rest, and prayer. The space can also be reserved for special religious occasions.
Spiritual Care Providers are available weekdays from 8:30am - 4:30pm, and after hours for emergencies. They can be reached at 403-955-7211.

This is where you will go for surgery. Your child will be admitted through the day surgery unit, then recover in the post-anaesthetic care unit, before being admitted to either unit 3 or the PICU on the main floor.
Unit 3 is the neurology unit, where most surgical patients will remain until discharge.
There is a Starbucks kiosk on the 4th floor right as you step off the main elevators. The kiosk is open from 7:00am to 2:00pm Monday to Friday and closed on the weekends. It is also closed during the summer.
Ronald McDonald house is conveniently located across the street from the hospital. It provides a home away from home for families who have children admitted to the hospital and live more than 45 km away.
Located 500m away in the University District, the grocery store is open daily from 7:00am to 10:00pm.
A full-service Starbucks is available inside the Save-On-Foods and is open daily until 7:00pm.
Located in the University District, this hotel offers nearby accommodations for any friends or family needing to be close to the hospital.

Located less than 10 minutes away just off 16th Ave, Shouldice Park has an outdoor accessible playground, tennis court, basketball court, soccer fields, baseball fields, and picnic areas. There is also an aquatic centre and arena for indoor swimming and skating.
